    Birthday Celebrations

    Italian Restaurants Perth Tiramisu

    You might be thinking…

    What does degustation mean?

Where did the word originate from?

What types of food is offered in a degustation menu and will this fill not only myself but my partner?

The answer is yes – Prego Restaurant offers five courses of authentic Italian Mediterranean style dishes that are full of flavor, beautifully presented and will be a conversation starter for weeks to come.

    Defined

Derived from the French, degustation refers to a ‘tasting plater’ or a sample of the chef’s most inspired and/ or requested dishes.

On a Thursday night in June we decided to celebrate a good friend’s birthday at Prego Restaurant located in the heart of Floreat, Perth. Booking a table for four at 7pm we arrived just on time and found street parking opposite the Italian Restaurant.

We were welcomed at the door by one of the waiters and promptly seated, napkins placed neatly on our laps, menus handed to us and the specials of the night perfectly memorised and explained.

    Our Degustation Experience

    Entrée is served!

We choose two entrees to share among the table including; the Mediterranean Falafel served with tahini and Mediterranean salad which was light and fluffy leaving our taste buds watering and wanting more. Followed by a hit of warm chili flavors with the Italian sausages and olives.

    Mains / Pasta

For mains I selected the house-made tortellini filled with Lebanese zucchini, tiger prawns and char grilled moreton bay bugs.  Full of flavours this dish was severed with the perfect amount of sauce drizzled around and over the tortellini, melting in my mouth as I ate each one.

    On the side…

During our main course we also shared sautéed spinach with garlic, parmesan and tomato concasse and thinly sliced, tender raw carpaccio.

    Dessert

What better way to end a birthday celebration then with dessert!

You can’t go past the Cioccolatino with warm oozing, chocolate served with a large scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

One final surprise the owner/ head chef and two waiters brought the birthday boys chosen dessert with candles, singing Happy Birthday and a shot of limoncello.

Whether it’s your first degustation experience or you’re a regular there is so much to love about Prego Restaurant’s Italian Mediterranean inspired menu.
